Ringu Tulku Rinpoche is a Tibetan Buddhist Master of the Kagyu Order. He was trained in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism under many great masters such as HH the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and HH Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. He took his formal education at Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Gangtok and Sampurnananda Sanskrit University, Varanasi, India and has served as Professor of Tibetology in Sikkim for 17 years. His doctoral thesis was on the Ecumenical Movement in Tibet.

Ian Ives grew up in the US and has been a student of Sogyal Rinpoche since he was a teenager. He attended the seven-month teaching periods of Rigpa’s 2006–2009 Three Year Retreat, and served as a teaching assistant to Rinpoche from 2007 to 2017; travelling with him extensively from 2012 onward. Ian is a senior Rigpa teacher, helps design and guide Rigpa’s international study program and the program for Lerab Ling, Rigpa’s retreat centre in southern France.

The Heart of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying Course Series : Rigpa US is pleased to offer an exciting course series of online modules exploring “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying” by Sogyal Rinpoche, the groundbreaking book that has helped millions of people find wellbeing in their lives and the possibility of ultimate freedom from suffering through their experience of the Buddhist tradition of wisdom and compassion. You are welcome to join at the beginning of each module, whether you have taken the previous module or not.

In the Mirror of Death : In order to produce a real change in our relationship with death, this course will introduce the unique Buddhist approach to learning, which employs the three wisdom tools: listening, contemplation and meditation. You’ll also be introduced to compassion practices and The Essential Phowa, a profound practice that gives you practical tools specifically designed for the moment of death. 

Cultivating Compassion : This course introduces you to focus your care and attention on others as a pathway to healing yourself. When we shift from self-focused worry to compassionate action, something remarkable happens—our anxiety and depression begin to lose their grip on us. If you wish to recognize your good heart and develop a deeper sense of community, our Cultivating Compassion course offers practical wisdom and personal training to help you connect with yourself and the world around you.
