Love in Action : Choosing Peace, Moment by Moment

Love in Action : Choosing Peace, Moment by Moment

Do you long to bring more goodness and peace into the world, but all too often feel consumed by difficult emotions? This course weaves together mindfulness and the intention to choose peace, empowering you to notice your thoughts and emotions with gentleness and make conscious choices that foster calm and kindness in daily life.

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries.
Without them, humanity cannot survive.”

~ HH Dalai Lama

Inspired by the recent Walk for Peace, we felt moved to offer this course again as a way to continue sharing the peace, love, and wisdom brought to us by the venerable monks. How can we gently shape our days to be more peaceful? What simple, real-life tools can support us when life gets tough? And how do we soften our automatic reactions in challenging moments, learning to respond with care, warmth, and kindness instead?

If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, or the overwhelming weight of today's world, you're not alone. Between economic uncertainty, climate change, social upheaval, and personal challenges, it's no wonder so many of us feel stuck in our own heads, replaying problems and fears on an endless loop.

Let’s learn to embrace our good heart, tune into our inner peace and develop a deeper sense of community!

This course offers a surprisingly effective approach: discovering your own inner goodness and using that foundation to extend care and attention to others. When we move from self-focused worry to a place of kind self-awareness, something remarkable unfolds: our compassion naturally expands to include those around us.

True compassion begins with understanding yourself and recognizing that peace already lives within you. By nurturing this inner peace, you create the conditions for genuine kindness and healing to flourish, both in yourself and in your relationships.

You'll learn practical techniques, including:

  • Basic meditation to calm your mind and create spaciousness

  • Self-compassion practices to stop being your own worst critic

  • Transforming anxiety and depression through compassion

  • Compassion meditation to expand your capacity for caring about others

  • Breathing practices for emotional healing (including the traditional practice of Tonglen)

When you practice sending warmth, peace, and kindness to others - even through simple acts of imagination - your own worries and heavy feelings can gently begin to soften. When you offer comfort to others, that kindness returns to you, bringing a sense of calm and well-being

By training your heart and mind in compassion, you'll discover:

  • Inner strength and groundedness to face life's challenges

  • A sense of purpose that comes from contributing to others' well-bein

  • Freedom from the anxiety spiral that keeps you up at night

  • Relief from depression through meaningful connection with others

This isn't about pretending everything is fine or bypassing your real struggles. Instead, you'll learn to work with your difficulties in a way that creates healing—both for yourself and for a world that desperately needs more compassion.

We invite you to join us in this course as we embrace the daily reminder and simple affirmation inspired by Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra: “Today is going to be my peaceful day.” Together, let's make this intention part of our journey toward greater peace, kindness, and well-being—taking our pain and gently transforming it into our strength.
