Ryan DuVal is a native from the San Francisco bay area. He developed an early interest in learning more about meditation and Buddhism. He attended Northwestern University and earned a degree in Religion, Computer Science and Music. It was during this time, that Ryan participated in a study abroad program in Bodhgaya, India. He learned about the 4 main schools of Buddhism through the Antioch program and began more seriously pursuing a spiritual path. A few years later, a friend recommended he read The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying (although to this day, his friend doesn’t recall the recommendation). This life changing event led to Ryan becoming a member of the Rigpa sangha. Ryan participated in the 3 year retreat in Lerab Ling, under the guidance of Sogyal Rinpoche. He now works on the Rigpa U.S. team, as the main I.T. and web developer and also as an instructor for Rigpa courses.
